Global’s Headquarters occupies six floors of combined buildings in a prime, Central London location on Leicester Square. For a dynamic and thriving business, the office accommodation consisted of inflexible fixed-desk working for staff (the majority of whom were freelancers and laptop users) and a limited capacity for Global’s forecasted growth. The office environment itself was also tired and ill-fitting for this energetic ‘of-the-moment’ media business.

By understanding current space standards and desk ratios throughout the existing building, Global’s ‘drive for change’ was supported by reviewing how the business could become spatially more agile and effective to enable them to remain in their current location.

Our new design concepts and space planning for the Fifth Floor pilot provide an agile working landscape with a push towards ABW (Activity Based Working). Set amongst the radio studios and editing suites, we have accommodated the projected increase in staff occupancy through greater efficiency whilst providing more interesting work settings for all. This included acoustic pods for individual concentrated working, soft seating spaces and collaborative team zones.

The accommodation of a new, high functioning collaborative core space is utilised for the business’s weekly Town Hall meetings as well as providing a flexible environment for informal meetings and agile working.
